18 3 2010In the southernmost part of our country between the Dyje and Morava rivers, an area similar to a vine leaf in shape is found. It offers everything that you might want to see and things you haven’t seen before.
The text that has been used in a leaflet of the Břeclav Boating Company for the tenth season for which they have been providing their services on the Dyje river describes the places of interest of the Lednice-Valtice area in a way that the locals see them and in a way they hope the visitors will see them too. It is the Břeclav Boating Company that offers a unique option to enter this area by boat on the Dyje river through the town of Břeclav.
The oldest and most popular route runs from the Rowing Club of Břeclav to Janohrad (John’s Castle) which is located at the edge of the Lednice chateau gardens. The voyage takes the visitors through the Lužní les (forest) and takes approximately about one hour one way. It is possible to have a tour around Janohrad, castle ruins used by the Lichtensteins as a hunting lodge. If you decide not to return to Břeclav, you may want to continue on foot towards the Lednice chateau through the chateau gardens or go by horse and carriage. It is also possible to take a bicycle onboard one of the boats and continue on one of the many cycle routes.
A fairly new sightseeing voyage offers to take visitors around Břeclav. It starts at the local Village hall and in one hour provides pleasant views of the town from the boat. If the water level permits, the boat can be booked to go all the way to Pohansko chateau, an empiric hunting lodge. Here an archaeological natural museum can be also found.
There is an option of combining the tour through the town and through the Lužní les using the local boating company called the Břeclav Benátky (Venice). This route is always in operation during the summer holidays and enters all quarters of the town. It is suitable for local families with children but also for active tourists who want to see as much as possible of Břeclav.
As mentioned above, the Břeclav Boating Company celebrates its tenth anniversary on the Dyje river. Apart from various social events, its members have given themselves another gift. It is a new twelve metre boat. Together with the engine propelled boats it docks at the Rowing Club of Břeclav. It is used not only for company teambuilding events but also by local enthusiasts.
