Rubrika: Wine
22 4 2010This variety of red wine is harvested later at the time of wine harvest. Rubinet, originally called Tintet is a cross of Revolta, Alibernet and André grapes.
The vines grow abundantly and are of an upright growth with sparsely leaved branches. The leaves are shiny and of a pentagonal shape. The bunches of grapes are of a medium size and thickly branched. The actual grape is small to medium in size, elliptical with dark blue almost black skin. The pulp and juice are of a strong colour. Rubinet makes the grapes go darker quite early in the season but the grapes are left on the vines till mid October to lose their acidity.
The wines of Rubinet are very dark in colour and are sometimes added into lighter red varieties. Doing so they make the colour of these wines more intense. The wine is often added into other varieties for example into Cabarnet Sauvignon. Its colour is therefore enhanced and also its Cabernet like flavour. As a result of intensive aromatic properties, this is why this wine is also suitable for storing in barrique oak barrels.
